MOD Edit (more info)

How to get your Mac and iPod touch.
(1. Shop for a Mac.
Shop the Apple Online Store for Education. Call 133-MAC (133-622). Or find your favorite Apple Retail Store or your local Apple Authorized Campus Reseller.
(2. Buy an iPod touch.
Purchase your Mac and iPod touch at the same time to qualify for your mail-in rebate*
(3. Submit your rebate.
Download, fill out and mail the rebate form after you receive your products no later than April 29, 2010.

Qualified students, faculty, and staff can get a free iPod touch or iPod nano when they purchase a new MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac (17' model excluded) or Mac Pro. Details The promotion runs from June 3 through September 15 of this year. Simply head into an Apple Store, purchase any Mac (except a Mac mini or refurbished Mac) and buy an iPod at the same time. The rebate is for $199, so even if you are coveting that awkwardly classic 160GB iPod or a larger iPod touch, you can still get it, though you’ll only get $199 back. Unfortunately, the offer doesn’t apply to iPhones. Then buy an iPod touch or iPod nano with your Mac and qualify for a maximum rebate of up to $299. So a 8GB iPod Nano (costs $199) or a 8GB iPod Touch (costs $299) will become effectively free. After you receive your Mac and iPod, use the Apple rebate tool by October 15. The Apple education discount lasts from June 3, 2008 till September 15.

Buy A Mac Get A Free Ipod Mini

Apple has announced the 2008 Back-To-School promotion. Qualified students, faculty, and staff can get a free iPod touch or iPod nano when they purchase a new MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac (17' model excluded) or Mac Pro.

Details
The promotion runs from June 3 through September 15 of this year. This is the most aggressive back to school promotion in the company's history and offers substantial savings because the free iPod comes on top of the Mac education discount.
Save up to $529 (USD)
The free iPod itself offers buyers up to $299 rebate towards the purchase of an iPod touch thus making the 8GB version free. When combined with the Mac education discount, buyers can save up to $529 (USD) on the combined purchase. The following lists the MAX education discount on pre-configured Mac models eligible in the promotion: (note total savings are in parenthesis)

Ipod
  • MacBook Air: $230 ($529)
  • Mac Pro: $200 ($499)
  • MacBook Pro: $200 ($499)
  • iMac: $140 ($439)
  • MacBook: $100 ($399)
Note that buyers have the option of a $199 rebate towards the purchase of an iPod nano but can maximize the rebate by opting for the iPod touch rebate.

Apple has posted the Terms and Conditions of the offer in the following PDF. Clearly, Apple is attempting to increase the base of iPod touch users. The iPod Touch runs the same operating system found on the iPhone and will be able to run future 'iPhone applications' released via the upcoming iTunes App Store.

  1. Shop for a Mac.
    • Choose a new MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac (17' model excluded) or Mac Pro
